SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – October 17, 2012 –With winter right around the corner Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is excited to offer multiple preseason events to generate early season stoke and support the local community. Sierra Resort is happy to continue their longstanding commitment to the community and share their excitement for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
“Part of our role as members of the Lake Tahoe community and as global citizens is finding ways to give back throughout the season. We look for ways to make meaningful contributions, support our guests and employees, and have fun while we are at it,” commented John Rice, General Manager of Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort.

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Presents Mountainfilm Tour 2012 – October 20, 2012
Sierra Resort is proud to partner with the Mountainfilm Tour, a film festival that showcases a selection of films from the international film festival held in Telluride, Colorado. The films chosen display themes of adventure, mountaineering, remarkable personalities and highlight important environmental and social messages.
Partnering with the Mountainfilm Tour, Sierra Resort is focused on bringing the community of South Lake Tahoe, California together through films that display the resort’s passion for adventure, exploration, and social responsibility. Films start at 6:30 p.m. at the MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa.
Keep Sierra Clean Day – October 21, 2012
Committed to the environment, Sierra Resort invites everyone to participate in Keep Sierra Clean Day. Join passholders, employees, and team members in keeping the mountain clean. Ride the lift up and walk down the mountain collecting trash that fell the previous winter.
Last year participants collected over 1,700 pounds of trash and this year will shoot to gather more than 1,800 pounds.
This year’s collection effort will cover some of the most impacted trails and base area locations, as well as spread out across areas that have not been covered by previous year’s events. All of the trash will be weighed and collected, with prizes given in a variety of categories. The event starts at 10 a.m., following the clean up there will be complimentary lunch served with live music and a ski/snowboard swap until 3 p.m. Come give back to the environment that gives joy to so many all winter long.
Downtown Throwdown – October 27, 2012
For the second year in a row Sierra Resort is proud to partner with the Lib Tech Downtown Throwdown. The event returns to San Francisco with Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort as the regional sponsor. The Downtown Throwdown has grown from a grassroots event into one of the most anticipated and respected urban snowboarding events in the world. Join Sierra Resort and some of the best amateur snowboarders in the nation as they take to the streets of San Francisco. The event will take place at Civic Center and best of all, is completely free.
Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Job Fair – November 3, 2012
Sierra-at-Tahoe will host its annual job fair from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Main Lodge for those interested in joining the Sierra Resort family. Enjoy ride breaks, a complimentary season pass, employee parties, and more. Sierra Resort is hiring for all winter positions such as lift operators, guest services, ticket checkers, food and beverage, rentals, parking, building services, ski and snowboard school, security and more. Those interested are encouraged to complete an online application prior to attending.
Sierra Snowball Fight: A Dodgeball Tournament – November 8, 2012
Dodge, dive, dip, duck, and dodge Sierra Resort style. Get in the spirit of winter and join other members of the community in a “Snowball Fight”. The first ever Sierra Snowball Fight will use the classic childhood game, dodgeball, to reconnect powder hounds and celebrate the upcoming winter before the lifts start spinning.
This is an all ages event so come cheer on the competitors and compete in a variety of quirky games; everyone has a chance to walk away with some swag. The event will take place at Brothers Bar and Grill and starts at 7 p.m. Brothers Bar will be serving up drink specials and food to keep party goers refueled for their next game, and live music will round out the night.
