Sierra Resort Provides Teen Challenge with Full Day of Skiing or Snowboarding Print-version

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – March 3, 2012 – On Sunday, March 4, 2012 Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort will host a group of twenty individuals from the Reno/Sparks Adolescent Boy’s Center and provide them with a full day of skiing or riding and rentals. The Reno/Sparks Adolescent Boy’s Center is a rehabilitation center where kids are transformed into young men and contributing members of society. Sierra Resort is proud to partner with Teen Challenge and the Reno/Sparks Adolescent Boy’s Center providing a powerful experience supporting their goals.

Sierra Resort is focused on giving back to the community and providing as many people as possible with the opportunity to ski and snowboard. “We maintain the tradition of donating both to community organizations and to national organizations because it's the right thing to do as a member of the Tahoe community and the global community,” states Sierra Resort General Manager John Rice. Along with helping organizations like Teen Challenge, Sierra supports the community, local schools and sports, and global organizations like World Vision. At this point in the season Sierra has donated over $28,000 in value to the community.

Teen Challenge was started in 1958 in Brooklyn, New York and is now regarded as one of the most successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs in the world. There are approximately 202 centers in the United States and 1,060 around the world helping men, women, teens, children, and families. Teen Challenge strives to help the whole person, not just the substance abuser. Providing kids with incentives like skiing and snowboarding, they are able to see each participant take positives strides toward recovery.
