SIERRA-AT-TAHOE® RESORT OPENS SOUTH SHORE’S ONLY SUPERPIPE
Over 300 inches of snowfall to date allows earliest Superpipe opening in resort’s history
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – January 12, 2011 – Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort has opened the South Shore’s Only Superpipe thanks to abundant early season snowfall. The Superpipe has 18 foot walls, stretches 52 feet wide and is 450 feet long. Professional and amateur skiers and snowboarders have been enjoying the Superpipe, which is located on the Aspen West trail off the Rock Garden lift.
“The Superpipe is one of Sierra Resort’s trademark freestyle terrain features and one of the reasons we’re consistently ranked among the country’s Top Ten resorts by Transworld SNOWboarding,” said Doug Mercer, Terrain Park Supervisor. “In addition to our other terrain parks, the Superpipe gives freestyle skiers and riders plenty of space on the mountain to jump, jib, and spin.”
Sierra Resort is an industry leader in creating innovative, ability-appropriate terrain for freestyle skiers and snowboarders of every level. Six terrain parks, built and maintained on an on-going basis throughout the season, have features from barely-off-the-ground to supersize.
