Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Athletes Invade Aspen, CO for Winter X Games Print-version

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – January 25, 2012 – Turn on ESPN this weekend and chances are pretty good that you’ll see an athlete from Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort competing at the Winter X Games. Sierra is proud to announce that three of their team athletes have pre-qualified for the iconic freestyle skiing and snowboarding event in Aspen, CO.

Sierra Resort is well-known for its commitment to both freestyle terrain parks and maintaining one of the lake’s best Superpipes, so it is no secret why the team athletes coming out of Sierra are among the best in the world. Amongst those riders looking to podium at Winter X are:

Jamie Anderson– widely considered the best female slopestyle snowboarder in the world, Jamie has won Slopestyle gold at Winter X Games twice and was the youngest Winter X gold medalist ever in 2007. Jamie looks to regain gold this year after a bronze in 2011.

Hannah Teter– an Olympic gold and silver medalist and five-time Winter X medalist, including one gold, Hannah has her sights set on the podium in this year’s Women’s Snowboarding Superpipe event. With plenty of experience and a large bag of tricks Hannah is always a podium contender.

Maddie Bowman– coming off a first place finish at Dew Tour in Killington, VT this past weekend, Maddie is quickly becoming recognized as one of the top female Superpipe skiers in the world. An alternate last season, this will mark Maddie’s second appearance at Winter X Games. Only seventeen years old, watch for Maddie to do big things in Aspen and in future competitions.

In addition to a strong athlete connection to Winter X Games, Sierra has a longstanding relationship with SPT, the company responsible for designing and building all of the courses at Winter X Games. SPT provides Sierra with training, guidelines, building resources and design ideas throughout the winter season. That same brainpower is now building and maintaining the Snowboarder X, Slopestyle, Big Air and Pipe for Winter X Games and allows the Sierra athletes to train and compete on the best freestyle terrain around.
