SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. December 14, 2011 - Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort will open for the 2011-12 season on Saturday, December 17, 2011 with very limited terrain. Due to low snow, Sierra will open Easy Rider Express chairlift accessing half of Broadway trail. This is a green run and will have a jib and rail park with small to medium features. Building on the reputation as one of the nation’s top terrain park resorts, Sierra Resort will offer a jib park consisting of multiple features including new boxes and rails giving eager guests a chance to get their park legs back underneath them. Forecasts show patterns of change toward the end of the month potentially allowing Sierra Resort to open more trails conditions pending.
“Winter has yet to kick into high gear, and with limited snowmaking we rely on Mother Nature. We definitely have early season conditions on the mountain,” said John Rice, General Manager. “But we know our skiers and riders are hungry to get those first couple of runs in and take a few laps through the Broadway terrain park. As we get more snow, more terrain will open.”
This is a great time for passholders to come pick up their season passes or daily ticket buyers to test their abilities for only $30 a day for adults or young adults and $10 for kids. Limited operations on opening day will include limited ski school operations, ice cold refreshing beer and food in The Pub and Mama’s Kitchen, available gear in the rental shops, and great holiday shopping at Sierra Mt. Sports.
