SIERRA-AT-TAHOE RESORT® SURPASSES SEASON AVERAGE AND 500” OF SNOW

Sierra Resorthas received over 500” of snow and it’s still snowing!

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort has received 507 inches of snow this season, that is over 40 feet, and winter is still in full effect. On February 24,2011, we surpassed our annual snowfall average of 480 inches and have received another 2 feet of snow. Since 1970 Sierra has only seen 11 winters with over 500 inches.

Multiple Sierra storms along with cold temperatures and consistent snowfall have contributed to great conditions and a solid snowpack this season.

In the 2004-2005 season, Sierra Resort recorded 647 inches of snow making it the most snow that Sierra Resort has received in the past 20 years. In 1982-1983, Sierra Resort recorded 756 inches of snow in one year, making it the biggest snow year in Sierra Resort history. With more snow in the forecast, the 2010-2011 season may end up a record breaker as well.
