SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – March 15, 2012 – With storms stacked to the horizon and snow on the way, winter is far from over at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. Accompanying the late season snowfall Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is planning to enhance the months of March and April with its signature Spring Fiesta, which includes marquee events and a few key deals that will appeal to skiers and riderswatching their budget. Don’t miss any of these events, spring camps and training sessons, sunny and snowy days in West Bowl, aprés beers on the Tiki Deck, and world-renowned spring terrain parks!
College Shred Fest presented by popchips – March 17, 2012
Put down the O Chem book, grab the dorm posse and join Sierra for College Shred Fest. College students can take advantage of $40 lift tickets just by showing their college ID and enjoy a party in West Bowl at the Baja Grill. The party will include a popchips photos, popchips potato sack races, contests, giveaways, dance offs and a live DJ.
The party continues into the night with free entry into Mont Bleu's St. Paddy's Day Party at their Opal Night Club, students just need to show their lift ticket or season pass. Starting at 10 p.m., Opal's St. Paddy's Day Party features $1 drinks all night, a green foam party, giveaways, body painting, and go-go dancers. Get ready to party.
GNU Greenhorn Games – March 17, 2012
Gnu Snowboards, Snowboy Productions and Sierra Resort are teaming up to bring you the Greenhorn Games, the coolest 13 and under contest in the world! The GNU Greenhorn Games give young shredders the chance to experience what it is like to compete and do so in a fun and encouraging environment. With very few contests like this around the globe, Sierra is providing a stage for some of the youngest talent in the world to shine. The idea is to have a great day snowboarding, learn new tricks, meet friends and maybe grab some prizes along the way.
College Week – March 19-23, 26-30 & April 2-6, 2012
Stop eating Ramen and grab some friends. Sierra Resort makes skiing and riding over spring break affordable for all college students. All week long ski or ride for only $56 a day with a valid college I.D. Show your I.D. at the ticket office, and enjoy the great spring conditions.
Vans and Pro Tec Present Hi-Standard – March 24, 2012
Vans and Pro Tec are bringing style to the slopes of Sierra Resort! The High Standard Double Big Air brings snowboarding “back to the basics”. Basics, meaning the double big air jump contest limits riders to spinning 540′s or less. Anything over a 540 and the run is disqualified. Big Air done the Vans way is strictly based on style and creativity. At the Hi-Standard, style is everything.
Women’s Camp Presented by GNU Girls – March 25, 2012
Sierra has partnered with GNU Snowboards to present this amazing camp targeted directly at female snowboarders ages 18+ of any ability level. Specially trained female instructors offer an exciting and fun experience that will help you build self-confidence and skills in an encouraging and safe environment. Girl power!
Billabong Flaunt It Finals – March 31, 2012
The finals of this North American women-only snowboard series is a Swatch World Tour rated event, so expect high-level femme riding from some of the best snowboarders in the industry. Sierra Resort’s own and 2012 X Games gold medalist Jamie Anderson is a Billabong sponsored rider and will make an appearance at the finals. Come experience tons of great female energy at Sierra Resort.
9th Annual Telegrass – April 7, 2012
This homegrown event brings out teleskiers from all over Northern California for a celebration of the freeheel life. Morning and afternoon clinics for teleskiers of every ability level, equipment demos from top manufacturers, fun relays and races, live music from regional bluegrass bands, beer tasting, and endless raffle prizes all combine for a festival that lets you free your heel so your mind can follow.
Buckle Up Big Air– April 14, 2012
Freestyle skiers and snowboarders come together in this grassroots contest to raise awareness about seatbelt safety in memory of Sierra Resort team rider Greg Smith. An outdoor BBQ, live DJ, raffle prizes, and a visit by CHP bring the safety message to life on the slopes. All proceeds go toward the Sierra-at-Tahoe Education Foundation. Don’t miss this amazing event.
Salsa Showdown– April 15, 2012
This 5th annual event will take place at the Baja Grill in West Bowl. The first 30 homemade salsa entries will compete for a Sierra season pass for next season. There will also be a taco eating contest, a live band, piñatas for the youngsters and lots of south-of-the-border-fun-in-the-sun. This day is all about celebrating the season and ending it on a high note in true Sierra fashion. Quirky, fun, and unique, the Salsa Showdown exemplifies the Sierra spirit, so come join us for an unforgettable day.
