WINTER EVENTS AT SIERRA-AT-TAHOE RESORT 
On-snow competitions for skiers and snowboarders supportprogression and embrace creativity

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – November 8, 2010 – From high energy contests that cultivate local talent to high stakes competitions that feed athletes into the Winter Dew Tour and Ticket To Ride World Snowboard Tour, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is supporting skills progression and thinking outside the flat-down-flat box when it comes to winter events. Below are the highlights of the winter calendar.

Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam – January 2, 2011
Once again, Volcom is opening its North American tour at Sierra Resort, bringing the winter’s first large scale event to the Lake Tahoe region. This jam-format, grass roots event is free and accessible to any and every snowboarder who can hit a rail. The custom build on Broadway draws one of the largest competitive turnouts of the season and is easily accessible to spectators.

Gatorade Free Flow Tour – February 5 & 6, 2011
This high-profile event will bring Northern California’s top amateur skiers and snowboarders out for a weekend of jibbing, jumping and bonking on a custom build. Three events – Slopestyle, Superpipe and Junior Rail Jam – will emphasize quality terrain park features, skier/rider style, and industry standard judging. Each division winner from this event will move on to the Free Flow Tour finals at the February stop of the 2010-2011 Winter Dew Tour where they will compete for a wildcard spot in the 2011-2012 Winter Dew Tour. 

Snowboarder Magazine’s THE HIT – March 12, 2011
New this season, THE HIT lets locals experience the excitement of a large-scale photo shoot with an oversized custom build and the industry’s top photographers clicking shutter buttons from every angle. Get that perfect shot and it could end up in Snowboarder Magazine. Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is the only Tahoe stop for this rider-judged contest, and will draw Northern California’s top regional athletes for a chance to get noticed by one of snowboarding’s most respected publications.

8th Annual Telegrass – March 26 & 27, 2011
This homegrown event brings out teleskiers from all over Northern California for a weekend celebration of the freeheel life. Morning and afternoon clinics for teleskiers of every ability level, equipment demos from top manufacturers, fun relays and races, live music from regional bluegrass bands, beer tasting, and endless raffle prizes all combine for a festival that lets you free your heel so your mind can follow.

Red Bull Butter Cup – April 2, 2011
This South Shore vs. North Shore contest is multi-leveled with Sierra Resort’s Park Crew pulling out all the tricks to build the more creative Rail Jam course while snowboarders will compete to execute perfect butters and presses. The spectator-friendly course will be built on Broadway.

Billabong Flaunt It Finals – April 9, 2011
The finals of this North American women-only snowboard series is a Swatch Ticket To Ride World Tour rated event so expect high-level femme riding from some of the best snowboarders in the industry. Sierra Resort’s own Jamie Anderson, currently ranked one of the top female snowboarders in the world, will be throwing down on the custom Slopestyle and Rail Jam course. This event always brings tons of great female energy to Sierra Resort.
